Meeting/Board Room Blinds
Roller blinds provide the ideal solution in commercial settings because they can easily solve privacy problems, turn a light filled room into a dark room and add insulation.
Why is it that we immediately think of residential uses when we think of roller blinds? Why are roller blinds not top of mind with commercial uses?
When in actual fact roller blinds offer perfect solutions for so many issues commercial buildings and office spaces face. Let’s dive a little deeper into these issues.
Privacy
Commercial places for the most part are open plan designs nowadays. They became popular in the late 1980s to early 1990s, Hewlett Packard was an early innovator of the ‘open door policy’, meaning they removed the traditional offices and replace them with cubicle spaces with no doors. Of course there are pros and cons to this, but their intent was to create a more even playing field within the working ranks. Based on the model, in theory a work experience student could sit in a cubicle right next to the Managing Director.
This model also meant there was less privacy so more meeting rooms were created. Now picture this, a commercial building with four walls has natural light coming in through windows from the outside walls. If they were put all the meeting rooms on these outside walls, which happened regularly then very little natural light would get through to the cubicles set-up on the inside of the building. To increase the light getting through to the cubicles the walls of the meeting room where glass, but this created a privacy issue. In step blinds, and in particular, roller blinds. Roller blinds are cost effective and versatile, and you could choose a full block out material or a material that still lets light through but creates privacy.
Versatile
A roller blinds can turn a full sunlit room into a dark room in seconds. Great for a meeting rooms where you need to give a presentation using projector. Then once the presentation is open, the roller blinds go up to return the room a sunlit room you are happy to inhabit.
Insulation
A great benefit which is often over looking is the insulation benefits roller blinds provide. This works for both hot weather and cold weather. In summer the blinds reflects the suns hot rays and in winter it can help keep the internal heat created by the air conditioning from escaping through the windows.
