Does keeping my blinds closed during the day create mould?
Keeping your blinds closed during the day doesn’t necessarily cause mould, but if the room has a higher than normal level of moisture content, the dampness in the air will contribute to the conditions which encourage mould to grow.
If for instance you have a bathroom with a small window and you chose to leave the blind down all day. This combined with wet towels, condensation on the ceiling, walls and blind(s) (created from a shower or two) will greatly enhance an environment where mould is likely to grow. The lack of light in the room, kept out by the blind being down will contribute to this environment.
As mentioned above, stopping this type of environment conducive to growing mould in the first place, is the most successful measure to stopping mould.
